For the grand surprise. Nan got Michael on the phone, then sat me down and put your memories and comments on my screen. It took a slow moment for me to realize just what was going on. Then I got weepy --a sentimental old fluff, as Groucho once called himself. Then I got into it, the pleasures of remembering and reconnecting and the immense satisfaction of being the subject of so much rich writing from so many wonderful writers.
